Bizen city

Ultra-competent Bizen rock glass which does not condense even when cold drinks are put

The other day I bought these two rock glasses.

One for myself and the other for a gift for a friend.

By the way the left is for myself.

it looks like this view from the top.

fullsizeoutput_305

Does it look quite cool?

This rock glasses are works of the Bizen potter who I introduced my blog entry(→That's the bizenware I presented to another friend of mine(in Japanese)

At that time I explained what I want she said to me " Shall I ask him?" when I said to her " I like that kind of texture.

That's why these writers made these rock glasses.
Thing to try to say.
I like this pretty metallic man Bizenyaki pretty much.

So I found something when I bought the other day and brought it home and was drinking shochu on-the-rock.

Even in Osaka, the temperature is considerably low at night, and even in such a situation, this rock glass does not condense even if quite cold liquid is contained.
It is amazing!

I do not need a coaster.

This is as valuable to me as it is okay to put Bizenware on a dishwasher at all.

Awesome Bizenware.

Although it may seem very heavy in the image, it is light because there is not much thickness.

That' is superconvinient for busy people.

I went to the "2017 Bizen-yaki Festival" in Imbe, Bizen city, Okayama Prefecture

I went to the 2017 Bizen-yaki Festival the other day!

See here for details -> 35th Bizen-yaki Festival ※ Festival is now over. Thank you.

This festival takes place annually on the 3rd weekend of October near Inbe station, which is the birthplace of Bizen-yaki. In this festival, Bizen-yaki potters sell their Bizen-yaki cheaply, various stands fill the streets, and many other events take place.

Although Bizen-yaki has a very expensive image and is indeed expensive (especially ones made by famous writers), on this day you could buy them at a 20% discount or even at half price.

When my Akoo line train from Okayama station arrived at the platform, two native English-speaking men asked me "Imbe?" to which I answered "Imbe!"

They probably wanted to ask me "Is this train going to Imbe?" but they weren't sure if I would understand their English, so they asked me in one word.

They are probably going to the Bizen-yaki festival too.

The train arrived in about 30 minutes from Okayama.

I thought that it would not be as crowded due to the rain, but that was not the case.

Once I exited Imbe station, it was like this.

fullsizeoutput_b4 A big crowd.
And Imbe station.

fullsizeoutput_b5
There were many stalls around the station, and since it was lunch time, I decided to have lunch by the station. Many shops have stalls out. Banners of the Chiya beef, a Wagyu product from Niimi city in northern Okayama.

There it is, the Hiroshima-yaki.

fullsizeoutput_be
This is the thing that infuriates Hiroshima citizens. I got the Hiruzen Yakisoba at this shop.

However, I found out later that there were many other stalls with more delicous-looking items, and felt slightly regretful. Next year, I should carefully examine my choices before eating, I thought. After crossing the street from the station, I immediately found a Bizen-yaki shop on the left.

fullsizeoutput_bd
This place had a 20% discount. Upon walking further, I found pottery chimneys and noticed the atmosphere of a pottery town.

On the right, several discount Bizen-yaki shops lined up their tents.

The reason why I know they were a discount shop is because I walked around this place at first, and unsure of the average rate, and walked around many other shops before I returned here. But filming while holding up my umbrella was a struggle...
Then, walking away from the shop, I finally enter the pottery area. Soon, I find a Bizen-yaki guardian dog at a shrine.

fullsizeoutput_bc
The guardian dog on the left, doesn't its face look slightly human? I'm pretty sure there are people who look like this. I will attach images below. An expensive-looking statue.

fullsizeoutput_b6
They have accessories too.

fullsizeoutput_ad
This is also a Bizen-yaki shop, but the mosaic is very modern.

fullsizeoutput_c3
This is a large pot from the Momoyama Period. That means it's from about 400 years ago.

Amazu Shrine, along the street.

fullsizeoutput_ba
Some of the work seems like modern art! Sorry it is slightly blurry.
fullsizeoutput_b9

This must be a vase.
fullsizeoutput_c1

And here is the Bizen-yaki that I purchased.

fullsizeoutput_b1
The coffee cup at the bottom, isn't it cute? When I first saw this, I thought "It looks hard to hold", but once I held it in my hand, it's incredibly comfortable to hold! According to the father who made it, it's made to be comfortable for both right-handed and left-handed people. ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ At this Bizen-yaki festival, there was something that I figured I would not be able to find, but would have been wonderful if I could. It is the vase that appears in Riku Onda's famous piece Mokuyou Kumikyoku. On the deathday of famous writer Tokiko Omomatsu, women who have had deep relationships with her come together and remember her. There, a bouquet arrives from a person named Chihiro Fujishiro (which is the name of the protagonist in Tokiko's posthumous work, "The Butterfly House"). The bouquet was decorated with a "large black yakishime chinaware vase, in the strange shape of a crushed rectangle, like a flag flapping in the wind". Since I associated yakishime chinaware to Bizen-yaki, I walked around with a faint hope that I would find such a vase, but of course could not find it. But it was a lot of fun. This time I was not able to go around all of the festival since I did not have much time and it was also raining, but since I will probably be living in Bizen next year, I plan to take my time to look around. That's all from akky!
